It was about this time that people were moving from surrounding villages into the “Peter Lee” dream new town. Many people who settled in the new town were cricketers who, continued to play league cricket for their home village teams on Saturdays, and friendly cricket on Sundays with Peterlee.
Soon a full Saturday side joined the Coxhoe & District League.
In 1962 the club were successful in gaining membership to the Durham County League, until in 1992 when they became members of the Durham Coast Cricket League and have played there ever since.
Junior cricket was first played in the East Durham Friendly League which was made up of local teams from Peterlee, Easington, Blackhall, Castle Eden, and Horden. With the exception of school cricket this was the first taste of competitive cricket for many junior cricketers.
Dean Burrows was one of our past junior members who went on to play 1st Class cricket for Gloucestershire until a serious injury forced him to retire from the first class game.
The club has an ‘open door’ policy with all cricketers young and old being made very welcome. All junior managers are CRB checked holding relevant registrations. Safety is of paramount importance to our junior cricket, managers are well aware of the ECB guidelines which are strictly applied.
