Hyton CC was formed in 1926, and was a founder member of the Durham Coast Cricket League. Initally being funded by Hylton Colliery Welfare. Many miners and their families enjoyed the facilities offerd at Castletown by the then National Coal Board.
More recently, the club, through it's Junior section developed the current Durham CCC. and former England wicket keeper Phil Mustard.
