History

It is documented that Durham County played against Bedfordshire in the Minor Counties at Carley Hill in 1904, subsequently a further 11 fixtures were played on the ground up until 1965.

Len Shackelton whilst playing at Sunderland AFC was club professional in 1950.

Additional Information

Wearmouth juniors are the latest club to join the Durham Coast Cricket League Junior Divisions. In 2006 the club reformed it’s junior section mainly playing friendlies against clubs from the surrounding area. The following year the club were welcomed into the Coast League fielding Under 11 and 13s teams, this season they will be competing in the Under15s division, demonstrating a real progression by youngsters coming through their coaching schemes.

Coaching

Pre season - Under 13s/15s Tues evenings at Red House School Under 11s, Wed evenings at Red House School.

During Season - Under 11s, Friday evenings at the ground Under 13/15s Wednesday evenings.
