History

The club was formed in 1866 and is perhaps one of the oldest clubs in the North East of England. Formed originally from the footballing side and played friendly games for many years. Became members of the Tyne and District League in the 1950s. Following the demise of the League the club joined the North East Durham League where it remained for several years. In the early 1970s and anxious to play at a higher level the club applied to join the North West Durham League and it was around this time that the junior section of the club was formed. Bill Quay later became members of the Durham Coast League and in 2006 formed their first Under 11s side. Whilst having won various junior leagues and cups the first team league has eluded us. We see ourselves as a family club hopefully giving pleasure to many young people of various ages.

The club is very strong from a membership point of view and tend to draw youngsters from South Tyneside and Gateshead as we are on the boundary of both Boroughs.
