DCCL ChairmanAs Chairman of the Durham Coast Cricket League I am absolutely delighted to be invited to write a welcome to the Junior league’s web site. A lot of hard work has gone into making our league the ‘Pathfinders’ of junior cricket in our county both on and off the field. On the field we have been most successful in the Just Sport Inter league competition and off the field our league were the forerunners in Child Welfare, CRB checks and organisational activities. It’s often said, “what the Coast League does today, other Leagues will follow tomorrow.” The reputation our league has achieved is down to the sheer hard work of many junior coaches and managers. This web site, packed full of information is a continuation of their forward thinking and will link perfectly with the DCCL site. I’m sure, just like junior cricket, it will be a huge success.

League SecretaryThey say that “from small acorns do large oak trees grow”- and that is certainly the case when talking about our Junior League. The League Chairman in the 80’s John Lowery realised that the future of member clubs must be through a structured Junior set up, allowing clubs to ensure their future. Having set the League structure in motion, the next step was to engage a Junior Manager who would oversee all Coast League Junior Cricket. Colin Brammer worked with team managers and developed the juniors for over 10years, much to the envy of all other North East Leagues. It was only a matter of time before the next development occurred – a web site to compliment the League’s. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all those connected with it, every success in promoting our already very successful League
